This unusual U.S. military
Pugilist jockstrap was
used to train hand-to-hand combat techniques. A magnesium cup sewn inside
the apron front stops nearly everything. Unlike a traditional jockstrap,
this one threads under the crotch like underwear, but is usually worn over
shorts or pants. The heavy O.D. canvas apron was tied around the waist (as
shown here) or attached to a shoulder harness.
